For several years, more and more Chinese manufacturers have been trying their luck in the electric car segment.
7 million electric cars
And they are also a big part of trying to get some success in France. This is for example the case of MG, which has been very successful, as well as other brands such as BYD. The Asian firm is really represented here with a wide range, but still wants to continue to go further. But that’s not all, as the manufacturer also surpassed Tesla in the first months of the year in terms of sales. But the brand went even further. Indeed, on March 25, the Chinese manufacturer made history by becoming the first global manufacturer to start producing 7 million cars with new energy in its factories. This impressive achievement includes both 100% battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. These two power technologies are implemented under the hood of all brands of the BYD Auto division. A great achievement for a company that started producing cars twenty years ago.
Innovative electric cars
Founded in 2003, BYD made a strategic decision to abandon the production of internal combustion vehicles to focus on the transition to electric vehicles. Despite this change, it managed to maintain the leadership of passenger car sales in China, a position it held for 11 consecutive years. BYD is at the forefront of developing technologies important to the electric vehicle industry, with many innovations such as Blade battery, widely recognized for its safety, having passed rigorous tests such as nail penetration without emitting smoke or fire. We’re also thinking about the e3.0 platform, which offers a lot of design flexibility and allows the wheelbase to be stretched to maximize interior space and accommodate a large battery between the axles. Finally, the cars of the brand are equipped CTB (Cell-to-Body) packages.which improves, among other things, stiffness.
In 2023, BYD sold 3.02 million units, strengthening its position as a global leader in the automotive industry.
