SkyDrive SD-05: Production of flying cars has begun

March 6, 2024 Suzuki and SkyDrive a solemn opening ceremony was held inSuzuki Iwata factory, located in Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan, in the presence of Toshihiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki, and Tomohiro Fukuzawa, president of SkyDrive, as well as employees of the two partner companies. This ceremony marked start of productionand was a vivid symbol of the collaboration between SkyDrive and Suzuki.
This industrial site belongs to Suzuki and is located a few kilometers from the historical headquarters of the Japanese manufacturer in Hamamatsu: this is where flying cars will be produced. SkyDrive SD-05which will be used in particular during Expo 2025 in Osaka and sold to the public.

Strategic partnership for Suzuki

The event marks an important milestone in the partnership that has been joining the two companies since 2022, when Suzuki acquired a stake in SkyDrive, a Japanese company specializing in the development of flying cars and cargo drones, which aims to revolutionize mobility in urban aerial photography.
This project is strategic for Suzuki and is part of its initiatives achieve carbon neutrality in 2050 in Japan and Europe, offering transport solutions in cities.
In addition to offering mobility solutions that will soon be diversified with the arrival of 100% electric models, Suzuki is working to make air mobility practical. WITH production capacity up to 100 eVTOL per year, Suzuki and SkyDrive will be able to meet the growing demand for urban air mobility solutions. SkyDrive’s vision is to create a future where everyone has access to eVTOL as a means of daily transportation in Japan and around the world.
