Recently, there are more and more women in the automotive industry. However, they still remain mostly in the minority.
Renault puts equality first
Indeed, this is particularly the case in professions known to be typically male, such as repair and engineering. But this, however, is changing. And it is not for nothing that more and more women are interested in this field of activity and find work at car manufacturers such as Renault. Following a proactive policy of diversity and inclusion, the firm has set itself the goal of achieving equal pay by 2025. To measure progress, the latter annually assesses the difference in average salary between its employees, taking into account equivalent positions, thanks to the indicator Gender pay gap. In 2023, the Group is proud to announce that it has succeeded in completely neutralizing the pay gap between employees both worldwide and in Switzerland, thus exceeding their own expectations. This is confirmed by François Roger, the company’s human resources director.
Renault still has a long way to go in certain areas
The latter explains that this goal was actually achieved two years ahead of schedule. That’s good news, and one that’s obviously welcomed by the manufacturer, which also wants to make progress on another issue: equality in its teams. By the end of 2023, there were 35% women in the group’s management bodies and 27% women in management positions. The group now aims to increase the proportion of women in leadership positions to 30% by 2030, before reaching full parity in 2050. At the moment, the French group does not report the total proportion of women present in its workforce. Currently, the firm does not explain exactly how it intends to attract recruits in their teams. We should probably know more in the coming months or years. The manufacturer is committed to a “proactive policy aimed at offering a workplace without any discrimination where everyone feels integrated”.
Thanks to these developments, the firm hopes to become an example for its competitors and wishes to continue this dynamic.
