New 100 horsepower 48V hybrid engine
Presented last year, new Fiat 600 now sees his proposal supplemented by a new 48V hybrid engine (P2) with 100 horses, which exhibits emissions of only 110 g CO2/km. Technically, it combines a 3-cylinder 1.2-liter PureTech 100-horsepower gasoline engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, as well as 6-speed electric transmission with double clutchwhich combines a 21 kW electric motor, an inverter and a central transmission unit.
This mechanism makes it possible to carry out Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, and provides almost instantaneous torque thanks to the electric motor. Under certain conditions, it also allows driving in 100% electric mode: in the city at a speed below 30 km/h or on the road, when the driver releases the accelerator pedal at a constant speed or descends.
In practice, the electric motor improves flexibility at low revs and during acceleration phases, which increases the pleasure of driving the Fiat 600.
Fiat 600 Hybrid: from 24,900 euros
According to Fiat, it also reduces fuel consumption, saving up to 15% in CO2 emissions compared to a comparable petrol engine with automatic transmission. CO2 emissions are estimated in 110 g CO2/kmbut are still subject to final approval.
The benefits are particularly noticeable in urban areas or in traffic jams, with the creep function at low speed or during parking manoeuvres. Hybrid power also allows energy to be recovered during braking and deceleration, while compensating for the effect of “turbo lag” with an instant response to pressing the accelerator pedal.
This new 100hp 48V hybrid engine is offered in two trims: the ‘600’, the most affordable version, and the ‘La Prima’, the most exclusive version. As for prices, do the math from 24,900 euros : orders in France are already open and the first deliveries are expected within a month June 2024.
A more powerful option 136 horsepower will eventually complete the 48V hybrid engine offering and will be available to order before then summer 2024.
