“The new Fiat Pandina is a tribute to Italian love for Panda. “.
Don’t call him Panda anymore
The head of Fiat, Olivier Francois, did not avoid praise for the legendary Panda, which the manufacturer is celebrating today by introducing a new version called Pandina. Translated as “little panda”, the Italians still called this model that they love so much (it was the best-selling model on the peninsula for several years). Launched in 1980, Last year, Panda celebrated the 40th anniversary of its 4X4 version, which largely contributed to the success of the model. Eventually, the Pandina name will completely replace the Panda name it will cover the next electric and hybrid generation of the model, expected at the end of the year. A strategy we often see when two generations of the same model are launched at the same time: the Clio II was renamed the Campus when the Clio III was introduced, the same for the Peugeot 206, which became the 206+ after the 207. Fiat used this event to reassure your customers by confirming this Pandina will be assembled in Pomigliano d’Arco until at least 2027. The current generation of Panda has been evolving almost unchanged since 2012, this update is timely.
Pandina, a more elegant and safer Panda
Aesthetically, it is quite restrained. Fiat presents a new Positano Yellow color and a black roof option, as well as subtle exterior details such as yellow mirror caps, baby panda prints on the rim, and “Pandina” badging on the rocker panel. HAS edge, the instrument panel is decorated in white and regains some vivacity, while the driver’s instrument panel abandons analog meters and becomes 100% digital. Yellow stitching and the model name now appear on the seats, while the steering wheel and seven-inch central screen are completely new. To meet the latest European GSR2 regulations, it is equipped new driver aids and safety features : six airbags (compared to 4 before), emergency braking assistance, fatigue detector, lane keeping assistance and automatic traffic sign recognition. The standard equipment is enriched with cruise control and a camera integrated into the internal rear-view mirror. However, under the hood, where it remains, nothing moves limited to 3-cylinder 1.0-liter gasoline engines with a capacity of 70 horsepower with a manual transmission.
Pandina special series is expected in dealerships this summersimultaneously with presentation of the new Panda.
