Ineos Fusiller: here is the younger brother of the Grenadier Auto Plus news in your smartphone Auto Plus news in your inbox

The Ineos Fusilier, the third model of the young English company after the Grenadier and Quartermaster pickup, has just been presented. The new features are not so much in the shapes or style – very similar to the Grenadier – but in its engine.

It is an electric all-terrain vehicle available with two different engines. On the one hand, the transmission, which works exclusively on the battery, on the other hand, is equipped with a range extender.

The smallest Ineos of the group

A true all-terrain vehicle rather than an SUV, the Grenadier Fusilier is slightly shorter than the Grenadier (4.89 meters long) and generally has a structure that performs its functions. The sides, hood and stern are positioned perpendicular to the ground to better perceive its all-terrain dimensions, although, even if it is not necessarily visible, the engineers tried to add an ounce of aerodynamics to maximize autonomy.
It is for this reason that the Fusilier has “softer” lines, loses the spare wheel attached to the tailgate, has new air intakes with active flaps flush, and the door hinges are located almost flush with the body. At the moment, the Ineos company has not presented photos of the interior of its new model.
“We developed this car quicklyconcluded that to move towards decarbonisation while continuing to create cars that customers want to drive, we need a mix of technologies. Electric cars are great for certain purposes: shorter journeys and urban deliveries, but industry and governments need to have realistic expectations of other technologies that can help accelerate the necessary pace of change. That’s why we’re offering an optional powertrain for the Fusilier that significantly reduces emissions, but has the necessary range and refueling capabilities. »– explains Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of Ineos.

With two electric versions

The most interesting part, however, concerns the new engines. Developed in collaboration with Magna Steyr and based on a new skateboard-type platform (battery in the center under the floor, motors on the axles), therefore intended for electric vehicles, The Ineos rifle will be available in two different versions.
There will be a purely electric version, as well as a second option equipped with a small gasoline engine, not intended for the operation of the car itself, but to power the generator, which in turn will charge the battery. This system is similar to Mazda’s with the MX-30 REV or the one BMW offered with the i3 REX. At the moment, neither the characteristics nor the autonomy are revealed. More details will come in autumn 2024 when the Ineos Fusilier will be fully unveiled.

And if you’ve been near Schockl, Austria, you might have come across this model as it’s being assembled at the Magna factory in Graz.
