Do not mind
If all manufacturers have to soon switch to 100% electricity not everyone will be in the same boat over the next few years. This is, for example, the case of Toyota, which does not really agree with this measure, although the firm is known for not being very interested in this engine. Indeed, while the company is famous for its hybrid cars and commitment to hydrogen vehicles, its stance on electric vehicles (EVs) has sparked debate. Indeed, Toyota President Akio Toyoda has long advocated a “multi-pronged” approach to the company’s future. As such, the latter refuses to rely solely on this engine, which was also confirmed by Sean Henley, head of Toyota in Australia. The latter indeed indicates that ” Toyota is not against EVs. Actually we don’t. And we want to play in this market. We want to be part of it. We are excited about this market. But we don’t see it as a silver bullet or a one-size-fits-all solution to achieving carbon neutrality.”

Several alternatives
According to a representative of the Japanese brand, consumers will buy that meets their needs, even if the car manufacturer has to integrate regulatory requirements such as reducing the carbon footprint. “Manufacturers must offer a vehicle whose capabilities can be used and which will be desirable. This is our job. And you know what? We have a social and public responsibility in this regard. That’s why we talk about fuel emission standards and multiple pathways […] Some interpret this as an anti-electric stance on Toyota’s part. No it is not. We are just realists. We are honest with the market and the position.” Especially since the manufacturer sells its own bZ4X and plans to expand the range without emissions in the coming years with new models. The firm intends to catch up with some of its competitors.
