The Tesla Model Y is $1,000 more expensive than the 1Er March
Tesla already announces this on its American configurator: Prices for its most popular electric SUV on the planet will increase from March 1, 2024. But be careful, luckily this price increase will not affect all versions. Only Y models with rear-wheel drive and high autonomy should increase in price. Good news if it’s a Model S, 3 Highland. This latest version of the electric SUV has recently received a new price cut, starting today from €55,990. Not bad for a car that can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, with a claimed range of up to 514 km. That’s all well and good, but how much will the increase be? The bad news is that Tesla isn’t defining this for sure yet. The manufacturer simply announces on its US site an increase of “$1,000 or more” from March 1, which is equivalent to just under €930 here. Enough to increase the starting price of the Tesla Model Y basic and Long Autonomy from $42,990 and $47,990 to at least $43,990 and $48,990, respectively.
In France too?
The big question today is whether Europe, and more specifically France, will be affected by this increase of just under €1,000. Currently, the base model is the Tesla Yits autonomy of 455 km, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and its top speed of 217 km/h today available in France from €42,990 or even from €37,990 after deducting the environmental bonus. The good news is that adding just under €1,000 to the price of the two models shouldn’t dramatically change their positioning. The rear-wheel drive version will indeed be entitled to an environmental bonus, while the variant with long autonomy will simply exceed the symbolic bar of 50,000 euros. This should make the Performance version even a bit more interesting… However, the bad news is that Tesla usually implements these price changes in all of its markets at the same time. Prices for the rear-wheel drive Model Y and Grande Autonomie should also increase here…
Why such a price increase? It’s hard to say, especially as we imagine that a redesign similar to the Model 3 Highland should also be applied to the Model Y. Thus, the American manufacturer would be interested in continuing to reduce the prices of its SUV in order to get rid of the last examples before the appearance of the updated car. This increase is quite surprising…
