Last December, the government drew up the first list of cars eligible for the environmental bonus in France. This list will be regularly updated by the legislator depending on the introduced new functions. Soon it will happen, for example, with Citroën ë-C3 or Renault 5 E-Tech.

We will remind you that the government decided to redraw the contours of the bonus rules for 2024, by integrating more precise, even protectionist criteria, even if he refuses to use the term.

Contours of the new bonus in France

This new version of the environmental bonus lies in its focus on the display of vehicles the best carbon footprint. Various environmental criteria are taken into account, such as the materials used, the type of battery, the energy consumption of the factory and the impact of vehicles. In other words, this measure is aimed at stopping the production of cars made in China, such as the MG4 or the Tesla Model 3.
About 65% of electric cars sold in France are eligible for the new bonus. However, it is important to note that state selection focuses on specific model variants, which means the importance of carefully checking the relevant configuration on the brands’ website. For example, eight different variants were chosen for the BMW iX1. As for European manufacturers, almost all Renault and Stellantis models claim the bonus. So the Renault Mégane, Twingo and Zoé are still affected, as is the upcoming Renault 5 E-Tech. At Stellantis, among the selected models are the ë-C4, DS 3 E-Tense, Peugeot e-208, Fiat 500 and 600, as well as Opel Astra and Corsa.

Here is the list of new cars eligible for the environmental bonus in France in 2024. These 20 models are added to a list that was already published late last year. The code that follows each car corresponds to a Variant Version (TVV).
