There are countless things on the road that can annoy us. Motorists drive slowly left lane, those who drive with their phones in hand, or even those who drive without turning on their turn signals, among others. But traffic jams are undoubtedly the most difficult. Indeed, the latter are often the cause of great stress for drivers, especially when it happens every day. As a rule, this applies to all those who have to get to their place of work by car during rush hours. Especially since remote work is no longer mandatory, especially in Paris.

A few days lost
Traffic jams are an unspeakable waste of time, not to mention pollution which they generate. And the situation is not for the better, especially in Paris, where everything is done to make it difficult for cars to move. But then, how much time do Parisian motorists spend in traffic every year? TomTom has the answer, though the hardware maker has just published its 2023 annual report. And without much surprise, the announced figure is simply huge. In fact, drivers lose an average of five days a year in traffic jams in Paris. This is 10 hours more than in 2022.
Bright numbers
Thus, a motorist passes an average of 66 minutes on the road daily, compared to 44 minutes in Clermont-Ferrand. Thus, they lose about thirty minutes every day in traffic jams and 120 hours a year. In addition, the average fuel consumption increased by 45% for a gasoline car. A scary number, and the price of the latter is getting higher and higher. However, Paris is not the most congested city in the world, as London is, with an average travel time of 10 kilometers of 37 minutes, compared to 26 minutes in Paris.
