
The new year brings changes to the streets of Rennes with the introduction of the LAPI (automatic number plate reader) system to combat parking fraud. This initiative, which was announced on the official website a few months ago, is now taking shape deployment of two vehicles equipped with this technology.
Nicknamed “PV sulphators”, these special cars will have the mission of circulating at moderate speeds through the city to fulfill preliminary inspection of vehicles parked in paid zones.
More effective control
Rennes Métropole announced that vehicles spotted with violations as well as disputed cases will be checked remotely or by agents traveling on electric scooters. The management of this mission is entrusted to the employees of SPL Citédia Métropole.
