THE new Dacia Duster arrives at the dealership as soon as spring following. This week, prices were discovered. With an entrance ticket to 19,690 eurosthe Romanian low-cost manufacturer kept its promises, remaining below the psychological bar 20,000 euros.

But the SUV that has been sold most often to individuals since 2018 remains more expensive than before. A few months ago, the Duster II was still selling for €17,990 Necessarywith motorization ECO G 100. Or 1,700 euros less than today.

What justifies such a difference in price?

The new Duster Essential vs the old Duster

With the same engine, the new generation of Duster is sold for 19,690 euros. Here’s a breakdown of what this new generation brings compared to the old “base” version Necessary :

• The new CMF-B platform: stolen from Clio, this one modular platform Sandero is already in use. In the new Duster, it offers a more spacious cabinAND better comfort on the road as well reduction of noise and vibration from rolling. As a bonus,driving pleasure also improves. • Control of mass media : at the finish level Necessary, Media Control is a multimedia system controlled by steering wheel controls, displaying media information and phone calls on a 3.5-inch instrument panel screen with analog gauges (a small screen is located between the two gauge arrows). It also includes 4 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and a smartphone holder built into the dashboard. By connecting to the free Dacia Media Control app, the driver can control radio/media functions and access other functions from their smartphone screen.
• Height-adjustable driver’s seat
• 4 attachment points for placement Accessory YouClip : these attachment points allow you to attach numerous special accessories in key places of the passenger compartment, practically and reliably. The “base” Duster has 4 attachment points compared to 6 in the higher versions.
• Security:
  • lighting warning activation of emergency braking assistance;
  • reading road signs + speeding warning;
  • Fatigue warning + safe distance warning

Is the price difference justified?

Thanks to the points above, we have a better understanding of the Dacia price hike. But is 1,700 euros justified?

We’re tempted to say yes, especially with the arrival of this platform, which is undoubtedly the biggest step up from the 2nd generation Duster, based on a chassis derived from… Logan !

Another important element is a change of style! The new Duster becomes more attractive and chooses sharper lines. As a result, the SUV has become less bulky and has a much more modern look.
