Let’s face it, electric SUVs are used more in nice areas than on dirt roads or worse off-road. Who would want to damage a car worth more than 100,000 euros at the same time?

For electric adventurers, however, Audi intends to change things with its new Q8 e-tron 55 quattro-derived model, specially designed to celebrate the debut of the Dakar Rally.

Powerful and practical

The well-known characteristics of the Q8 e-tron are hidden under the strong body of the Dakar Edition. A 106kWh battery powers two motors to produce power 408 hp and 664 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.8 seconds with standard tires, and a tenth more with all-terrain tires.

Announced on 487 kilometers on the WLTP cycle, the range of this special version is reduced by 95 km compared to the classic Q8 e-tron 55.

The Dakar version of the Q8 e-tron offers three different colors: Siam Beige metallic, Mythos Black metallic and Magnetic Grey. Decals inspired by the RS Q e-tron, which also competed in the Dakar Rally, can be added for a sporty touch.

A real SUV?

This electric SUV also stands out for its versatility, thanks in particular to the General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires and ground clearance 31 millimeters higher than the standard Q8 e-tron. The ground clearance changes with speed, providing optimal stability at high speeds while improving aerodynamics and range.

Audi has thought of everything for adventurers, including a storage package, luggage compartment and roof rack as standard. The roof rack, which can hold up to 40 kg, is ideal for carrying a variety of items, as well as a special bag and straps for attaching accessories.

The Q8 e-tron Dakar Edition is available to order from the first quarter of 2024 with a starting price of approx 120,000 euros in Germany. Enthusiasts will also have the option of opting for a limited edition limited to 99 examples, offering some extra equipment at a price of €130,000.
