Porsche 911 type 992.2 should be presented this year by the firm from Stuttgart, of course, at the beginning of the next academic year. This version is already eagerly awaited, since it is the first time the German sports car icon may get a hybrid engine.
Early indiscretions point to a V4 borrowed from rivals and backed by an electric motor. So, no flat sixes that should get the purists talking. At the same time, it may be the most powerful production 911 ever, more than 700 hp. 991.2 GT2 RS.
A completely renewed range?
But this will not be the only novelty in the assortment, according to Car and Driver journalists. Indeed, Porsche is reportedly gearing up second atmospheric enginewhich differs from the current 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine that will be powered by future GT3 911 variants.
This flat six will have a working volume of 3.6 liters and will also be available in a twin-turbo version. It won’t be a addition to the range, but a replacement for the 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder that currently powers most 911 models (Carrera, Carrera S, GTS, etc.). As a result, the “small” 911s, i.e. the versions mentioned above in addition to the Touring, can be naturally aspirated.
This engine in the biturbo version should replace the 3.8-liter 911 Turbo and Turbo S, while maintaining a high level of power: 580 hp. for the Turbo, 650 for the Turbo S.
Up to three Porsche 911 hybrids?
Journalists Car and Driver went even further, announcing that a significant part of the 911 model range can be hybridized. There will be no plug-in hybrid models, this is, first of all, micro-hybridization, which the driver barely notices.
As such, American journalists claim that the 911 hybrid will ultimately still be eligible for the 3.0-liter bi-turbo six that will no longer be offered on the Carrera, Carrera S and GTS (still keeping track?) . It can develop a power of 390 hp. and will be supported by an electric motor with a capacity of about 90 hp. (powered by a small 2 kWh battery) with a total power of 485 hp.
Another hybrid version, more powerful, could develop around 535 hp, while the upcoming GT2 RS, which could also be a hybrid, will hit the 800 hp mark.
