Skywell Skyworth Skyhome. Bless you ! Behind this barbaric name hides a a very young Chinese car manufacturer, but which has great ambitions on the international stage. Skyworth Auto was founded in 2017 as a joint venture between Skywell, a bus and commercial vehicle manufacturer, and Skyworth, a Chinese electronics and software giant. Technology companies are increasingly interested in this type of partnership : Huawei is associated with Seres under AITO, Xiaomi has partnered with BAIC for its new SU7 sedan, and Sony signed a partnership with Honda to develop electric cars. Of Skyworth currently offers just one model: the EV6family crossover with 489 kilometers of autonomy.
A new sedan to conquer the world
Currently, this model is only sold in China, the Skyworth brand does not yet have the same global reputation as the other players mentioned above. But its deployment is accelerating! The brand will create a battery plant in Turkey, “the breadbasket of Europe” as far as car production is concerned, several manufacturers based there. Given China’s recent race in the European electricity sector, it may appear in Europe in a few years. But not with EV6, p the new Skyhome sedanthe third and last “Sky” in the series. The prototype, 90% faithful to the future production version, was just presented at the Hong Kong Motor Show. As for the exterior line and interior, it reflects the same codes as its competitors: minimalist design, clean lines, no fuss.

On the other hand, it is revolutionary in terms of on-board equipment ! See instead: for rear passengers the giant flat screen retracts occupy almost the entire width of the car! “Like at home.” Among other interesting things, Skyhome will start steering wheelpanoramic glass roof, refrigerator on the center console and reclining seats. A “private plane” on wheels, driven by two electric motors – one per axle – develops 617 horsepower. The program also has a two-wheel drive version. The brand has not yet revealed the technical characteristics of its battery, and therefore its autonomy. However, we do know that it uses an 800V architecture that allows it to do so restore 490 km of autonomy in just 10 minutes. The new electric sedan will go into production next year, with Europe coming later.
