Cadillac will soon return to Europe. Not that the brand has completely disappeared, unlike its cousin Chevrolet: the XT4 crossover is still officially imported and distributed in Europe from Switzerland. But this one is starting to age: it is already 5 years old on the clock, and despite a small restyling in 2023, its appearance is no longer young. In any case, Cadillac has much bigger ambitions in Europe than just offering a petrol C-segment crossover: as you can imagine, the premium division of General Motors wants to conquer the continent with its electric! At the moment, it remains rather low-key in the Old Continent, but in the United States and China it is hard at work to develop a complete line that can interest us, demanding Europeans!
The new saga of “iQ” in Cadillac
The very first model in his electric saga was the Celestiq. This large “full-size” sedan competes with Rolls-Royce and Bentley no less! It’s meant to be distributed in small numbers really, more as an electric standard bearer for the brand than a mass-produced model. This role will rather be a role Lyriq crossover, released in 2022. This year, Cadillac introduced two other new products in a row: The Optiq, and especially the Escalade iQ, watt alternative to the brand’s historic SUV. The Optiq and Lyriq are equivalent to the current XTR (C segment) and XT5 (D segment). And about what The Cadillac XT6, a seven-seat SUV, sits just below the Escalade iQ ? It will also be eligible for its own electric version, which has just been revealed: here it is the new Vistiq SUV.
Escalade iQ’s younger brother
Cadillac’s fourth electric model (excluding the Celestiq sedan) is a model that imposes itself and should be similar in size to the XT6 (length 5.05 m, width 1.96 m, height 1.75 m). We recognize the design of electric Cadillacs (ending in “iq”): the impressive grille, headlights on two levels in front and back, door handles flush. We will have to wait a bit before we know about its internal presentation, which should take a large digital panel (at 33 inches in the Lyriq or 55 inches in the Escalade iQ?). The technical level is also vague, but by all logic it will recover a 510-horsepower Lyriq electric unit and a 100.4 kWh battery. We will have to wait until 2024 to confirm all this information, or even 2025 to see it arrive in Europe.
