It’s a long-awaited and important model for Honda, which just had its debut at the Guangzhou (Canton) Motor Show in China. Honda e:NP2 is the prophet of the next 100% electric model of the manufacturer, which should allow it to be relaunched in China, where customers love battery cars. Because Honda, like most of its Japanese compatriots (with the exception of Nissan, which has a rather unique history), is late. Separate his small city car (which just disappeared from the European catalogue) and its upcoming Prologue crossover (which will initially be reserved for the US market), the brand has released just one large-scale electric model: the e:NP1/e:NS1, recently sold in Europe as Honda e: NY1.
Future electric coupe SUV
It the electric equivalent of the HR-V crossover is currently the only electric Honda bastion in Europe and China! The designation e:NP1/e:NS1 there refers to the same model as simple sold through two separate joint ventures : Guangqi-Honda for the first, Dongfeng-Honda for the second. Likewise, this new e:NP2/e:NS2, which will be launched in China in 2024, will exist with us under the name e:NY2. are you following Unlike the previous duo, these two new ones have some aesthetic differences: their stern and nose are clear, with more conservative signatures on e:NP2 and sportier signatures on e:NS2. Anyway, they share theirs silhouette raised SUV coupe/sedana kind of tall Honda Accord.
Big Brother on e:NY1
In terms of positioning, this new model (let’s just call it the e:NY2, its European name) will be bigger than the e:NY1 and should be between C and D segments. The photos released by the brand also show a large wheelbase that contributes to the beautiful volumes of the cabin. The interior is quite simple and laconic., with a fully HONDA-embossed steering wheel and a prominent central touchscreen. Under the hood, we don’t know what its engine and battery will be made of. For comparison, the current e:NY1 develops 204 horsepower and offers a range of 412 kilometers, powered by a battery with a capacity of 68 kWh. There is no doubt about it the upcoming e:NY2, the larger one, should revise these numbers upwards. Its Chinese production will begin in the first half of 2024. Until then, we’ll know more about its specifications (at least the Chinese ones) and perhaps a possible date for its arrival in Europe…
