Mercedes is inaugurating its first this fall fast charging stations for electric vehicles, no Mercedes-Benz charging center and equipped with high-power charging stations: in this way, the German manufacturer aims to expand its charging infrastructure around the world.
In addition to stations in Atlanta (USA) and Chengdu (China), on Gottlieb-Daimler Straße in Mannheim (in Germany) that we find the first station in the network of Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub charging centers in Europe. Its grand opening took place in the presence of Volker Wissing, Federal Minister of Digital Technologies and Transport of Germany.
Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub: ultra-fast charging station
Mannheim station has six charging stationseach of which provides power 300 kW. Each terminal has only one charging point to guarantee maximum energy delivery for charging electric vehicles thanks to intelligent load management. Depending on the model of the electric vehicle, these high-speed terminals allow charging in less than 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80% capacity.
Mercedes has set itself the goal of making charging stations especially pleasant for users with the help of its partner E.ON for the development and operation of the network. There are intelligent solutions such as AI-based predictive infrastructure maintenance, as well as customer-friendly features such as pre-booking and Plug & Charge.
A charging solution from Mercedes
The charging stations at the Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub in Mannheim are equipped with large parking spaces, making it easy to charge large electric commercial vans such as the Mercedes eSprinter. The roof of the station is equipped photovoltaic panelsand helps generate renewable energy, while customers can wait for charging in the waiting rooms of a Mercedes dealership located in the immediate vicinity.
By the end of 2024, Mercedes plans to expand its global network of fast charging stations to more than 2000 high-power charging points. The long-term goal is to create more than 2,000 charging centers by the end of the decade so that more than 10,000 charging points in total.
