
Introduced in 2020 and then launched in 2021 in Europe Jeep Wrangler 4xe this is a version of the famous American 4×4, equipped with a hybrid engine with a capacity of 380 horsepower. It’s also the only engine still offered in the Wrangler catalog in our region that has ditched the diesel engine due to environmental penalties.
Like all models, the Wrangler is not immune to some technical faults that can lead to recall campaigns: Jeep has recalled more than 45,000 copies of the Wrangler 4xefor a serious security issue.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe: several cases of fire were detected
According to Stellantis, this was revealed by the company’s internal investigation eight cases of Jeep Wrangler 4xe fires : All of these models were parked and turned off, and six of them were connected to a charging station. The car manufacturer clarifies that it is not aware of any injuries or accidents resulting from this defect related to the car’s high-voltage battery.
Jeep clarifies that these vehicles can still be driven, but the American manufacturer recommends that owners instead refrain from recharging your car hybrid and park it away from any buildings or other vehicles until the problem is resolved.
More than 45,000 copies at time of recall
Affected models of the latest generation Jeep Wrangler 4xe, produced between 2020 and 2023 : more details, 45230 approx affect, but only models equipped Hybrid engine 4xe, and not equipped with a heat engine. Most of these vehicles were sold in the North American market: in fact, Stellantis specifies that 32,125 examples are recalled in the United States, 3,856 examples in Canada, while only 9,249 cars will be recalled outside North America, including Europe.
Jeep will notify affected owners of this issue in the coming weeks, and they are advised to contact their Jeep dealer for support. According to the American manufacturer, only 1% of the affected vehicles may have this defect.
Jeep dealers will apply firmware updates to all affected vehicles. But if a certain error code is found during diagnostics, they will proceed to replace the battery. The American brand did not reveal more details about this.
