And in order to protect himself from possible, in his opinion, incredible problems, Patrick took care of an extended warranty for five years.
When he realizes that the sunroof’s blackout curtain remains open, his CR-V therefore still covered by this policy. Fortunately, he thinks, because replacing that sun visor will cost a fortune 2513 euros.
Double disappointment
But Patrick quickly becomes frustrated…Honda initially tells him that this part is one of those that is not covered by this long term warranty. Still, there’s no doubt about paying the bill when his CR-V, which just turned 4 years old, shows up only 34,000 km on the meter and that it was always in perfect condition on the network.
Therefore, our reader turns to the French importer of the Japanese manufacturer for support. But the latter’s answer has the effect of a cold shower. A message from Honda France reminds him that the extended warranty does not cover this type of problem and that, in addition, the manufacturer’s warranty of 3 years/100,000 km has expired, there can be no question of acceptance of responsibility.

Fortunately, it is true that Honda customers drive cars with a very high level of reliability. Because when a problem arises after the end of the manufacturer’s warranty, the Japanese brand is insoluble. Patrick Martin was not lucky enough to come across a “zero” CR-V.
But he is right not to accept Honda France’s rejection. In fact, such an element as a tinted curtain of the glass roof should last 250,000 km. Thus, less than 5 years/80,000 km, Honda must pay 100% of the repair!
