Ellie (“Electric Life”) is a subsidiary of Volkswagen that specializes in managing all charging, energy and sustainable mobility activities of the German group. With a new service Elli Fleet Chargingmanagers of electric vehicle fleets will be able to control the charging of their fleet and optimize the related costs.
“The transition to electric mobility is changing the way companies organize their mobility”Giovanni Palazzo, Elli CEO and Volkswagen Group Vice President responsible for charging and energy, explains: “Managing an electric vehicle fleet is different from managing a fleet of conventional vehicles, as drivers can charge them at different locations. Therefore, companies need an integrated international billing tool that can support all scenarios, i.e. public fast charging stations as well as private networks equipped with a MID meter. Therefore, Elli offers ready-made software and hardware solutions. »

More and more electrified car fleets
Elli Fleet Charging is initially planned to be launched in Germany, Austria, Spain and Italy starting this month. November 2023, and in other European countries is planned in the coming months. The first test phase, which lasted several months, has already been successfully carried out on the German market with the fleets of at least 650 companies.
This proposal provides a solution to the problemincreasing the number of electric cars in company fleets in Europe: in fact, today one in seven professional vehicles is equipped with an electrified or 100% electric engine, according to a KfW Research study published in August 2023. This phenomenon is explained by increasingly strict regulations in various countries aimed at limiting the movement of thermal vehicles, especially in cities, and which naturally affects professionals in their daily journeys.
