
To support the launch of the thirteenth generation Toyota Land Cruiser, the Japanese manufacturer uses the exhibition The 2023 SEMA Show present to the public an amazing concept car: the Toyota FJ Bruiser conceptwhich pays homage to the Land Cruiser’s origins.
“Every year we are fortunate to be able to create a special project car for the SEMA Show. With the return of the Land Cruiser to the American market, it made sense to introduce an adventure vehicle. So here’s our version of the 1966 Toyota FJ45 pickup »Marty Schwerter, director of the Toyota Motorsports team, said on this occasion.
Toyota FJ Bruiser Concept: Custom Land Cruiser of the 60s
The TRD (Toyota Racing Development) teams redesigned a 5.9 liter Nascar Cup Car V8 enginewhich is now developing power 725 horsepower. A MagnaFlow exhaust system delivers a fearsome sound, and power is sent to all four wheels through a race-engineered Rancho Drivetrain Engineering 3-speed automatic transmission.
The Toyota FJ Bruiser concept has received numerous upgrades to make it a true beast: the drivetrain includes Curry differentials front and rear, and an Advanced Adapter Atlas transfer case that offers four speeds for 2WD and four speeds for 4WD.
This transmission configuration allows the FJ Bruiser to reach a speed of 20 km/h at 7000 rpm in the lowest gear and a top speed of 266 km/h at the same engine speed of 7000 rpm in the highest gear.
Extreme style
The model is based on a fully tubular chassis and roll cage, all combined with the body via a new, stiffer custom frame. Lines 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 pickup truck were enhanced with a shiny green paint job and the suspensions were revised using Fox shocks and Eibach springs. 42-inch BF Goodrich Krawler T/A KX tires mounted on 20-inch Method Beadlock wheels give this extreme rider a particularly aggressive look.
Inside, Toyota worked with the Complete Customs team to give the retro Land Cruiser a new lease of life: bucket seats The Momo Daytona EVO has been updated with green and purple checkered upholstery to honor the FJ’s original checkered seat, along with a vintage 1968 Momo Jackie Stewart steering wheel.
The FJ Bruiser is one of several special models on display at the Toyota booth at the SEMA Show (Association of the market of special equipment) in Las Vegas, United States, where over 19 individual carsas well as a wide range of accessories for personalization.
