Of course, the model presented today will not shine in a beauty contest, but, nevertheless, it stands out in an area that can undoubtedly interest many customers.

Indeed, the Chinese minivan Mega now holds the record for the fastest charging electric car, by the way. from 6% to 80% battery in just 11 minutes and 2 seconds. The car has reached its peak 552 kW, accumulating approximately 77.3 kWh in just over 10 minutes. Given the battery capacity of the model, this is equivalent to a recovery 500 km of autonomy in 10 minutes.

The charging curve is also impressive. Up to 60% load, the Li Mega never dropped below the 400kW threshold, and after 60% it stayed above 300kW. At 80%, the charging power was still 315 kW.

A new absolute record

With this test, Li Auto, the manufacturer of the car in question, broke the charging capacity record of the Xpeng G9, which reached a peak power of 445 kW. These values are much higher than those claimed by other electric vehicles present in Europe.

In theory, the Lotus Eletre can reach a peak power of 430 kW, Hyundai and Kia with the Ioniq 5 and EV6 will play with 350 kW, and the Porsche Taycan can support up to 270 kW.

All factors that contributed to the record

This result became possible thanks to two factors: first, obviously it’s the battery which Li Mega is equipped with. This is Qilin manufactured by CATL. The second factor, this is a charging stationproduced by Huawei and capable of providing a maximum power of 600 kW.

Li Mega, which is the first electric car from the Chinese manufacturer Li Auto, is built on a new platform with an 800-volt architecture that allows it to go from 0 to 50% in 7 minutes with the help of a fairly powerful terminal. , and from 0 to 75% in 10 minutes.

Indeed, with these numbers we are very close to the famous “time spent at the pump” with the thermal model. It remains to be seen whether the battery can sustain such high charge cycles over time.
