Toyota will soon replace its large road sedan, the Camry ! Launched in Europe in 1982, it is a global car that has since been sold in almost every country in the world. It is also one of Toyota’s best sellers the best-selling sedan in the world in 2022 ! But he returned to us very recently! At the end of 1997, Toyota decided to stop selling it in Europe in favor of a new model, more compact and better suited to our European requirements: the Avensis. Finally, a twist in 2018: Avensis has left the European sceneand the Camry (in its eighth generation) was coming back!
Hybrid sedan that tempts
It is only available in hybrid engine with self-charging2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine combined with a small electric motor that develops in combination 218 horsepower (e-CVT gearbox). She found 12,964 customers in France in 2022, an honorable mention given the sedans’ loss of speed in recent years. Especially this one, the only large utility sedan still on the market! Most sales go to professionals, in particular to taxi parks and VTC who love it very much. But after five years of career and very subtle restyling it will be a clean place for a brand new generation in 2024. And you saw the first teaser before your eyes!
The ninth generation is approaching
Toyota has indeed just revealed a mysterious image : the silhouette of the car seen from the front only reveals the light signature of its headlights. It is accompanied by an equally evasive description that evokes a “new dawn” and asks us about “what looms on the horizon.” The model in question is quite low, quite wide and does not have the body design features characteristic of SUVs. It doesn’t seem to pretend to be sporty either, and so could very well be a sedan!
The large Avalon sedan is gradually being replaced by the new Crown, there is little doubt that this new “sedan” is the ninth Camry of the name! Therefore, its presentation is inevitable, and we should know more about it soon. She will be still offered with a plug-in hybrid engine, and given the current generation’s success, it’s hard to see how Toyota could decide not to update it here. So be patient…
