“New electric car from 25,000 euros”. This is a new niche that manufacturers have rushed into in recent months in Europe.

First there was the Renault 5 E-Tech (which will eventually cost around €30,000), then the Volkswagen ID.2, the Citroën ë-C3, the future Fiat Panda, the hypothetical Toyota bZ2X, the Tesla Model 2. and now the Kia EV2.

The smallest electric Kia?

With Electric Vehicle Day and the launch of the very ambitious EV3 and EV4, two very ambitious 100% electric models, the Kia EV family continues to grow in popularity, down the line. Even if the EV9 and the upcoming EV8 sedan demonstrate the Korean manufacturer’s undeniable push into the upmarket, it’s at the bottom of the scale where it gets interesting.

Indeed, like Hyundai, Kia is also preparing a more affordable electric city car. Even though its name hasn’t been officially released, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be called the EV2. It should start from 25,000 to 30,000 eurosbefore possible help, even if it will definitely disappear by then, since we are talking about commercialization during 2026.

A car destined for Europe?

Technically, we don’t know much about this product yet, but we can’t imagine it range on one charge is less than 400 km.

The car will not be based on the well-known E-GMP platform of the largest cars of the Hyundai/Kia group, but on a new platform called eK, an electrified version of the platform on which the current Hyundai i20 or Kia XCeed are based. .

The Kia EV2 will be primarily designed for Europe, with production in Europe as it is due to leave the manufacturer’s plant in Žilina, Slovakia.
