Tesla is not just cars, today it is an entire ecosystem that revolves around it. The manufacturer innovates in many areas, and not only around cars.
The Gigafactory in Austin, Texas is the flagship factory for the company, which also moved its headquarters there from its Fremont, California factory. Therefore, it is an ideal place for creating state-of-the-art facilities. The Cybertruck assembly lines are also running at this factory and production of 4,680 items has begun.
But these are not the only novelties arriving at the Texas factory. Indeed, quite recently, there were rumors about the mysterious “Giga Water Loop”.. But what is it about?
A new installation for the plant? Not necessarily
There is nothing concrete yet. American journalists at Electrek recently discovered a new construction permit around the Austin plant that specifically refers to a project called the “Giga Water Loop.” Here is what we can read in this document:
“This is a Tesla project called the Giga Water Loop. In the area where it will be built, there is an Austin Energy power tower with a connection that goes into the ground very close to our pipeline project on the north bank of the river. We are asking for help from Austin Energy to hold the tower in place during construction or to temporarily relocate the thrust while working on the new structure. »
Two hypotheses persist
Reading the document, we do not necessarily learn more, but we can put forward two hypotheses. The first, more simplified, concerns for the construction of such an artificial lake which will be part of a park open to the public that will be built near the Gigafactory and stretch along the banks of the Colorado River. Elon Musk has talked about this in the past, describing it as “ecological paradise” with footpaths, cycle paths and a series of footbridges.
The second, which requires more effort, suggests that the “Giga Water Loop” will a structure capable of recirculating the water used by the factory to make cars and batteries. The idea will be part of the strategy outlined by Tesla in its Master Plan, Part 3: A Long-Term Strategy to Make the Company Greener. No date has been announced at this time, but such a project could take several years before it sees the light of day.
