Renault continues “Renaulution” with a new small SUV, which will soon appear in the diamond company’s range. This model, which will be reserved for the South American market, will be presented in Rio, Brazil, on October 25. the new head of Renault in this region.

Smaller than the Captur, the Kardian would have its place in Europe, but this model could walk in the flowerbeds of another product of the Renault group, and for good reason. Indeed, the Renault Kardian will essentially be based on the Dacia Sandero Stepway.

Dacia Sandero with a diamond

Aesthetically, according to the released teaser images, the model will be almost identical to the Sandero, save for a few details, including the shape of the optics, which seems to have changed compared to the Romanian compact sold here.

Renault has already exhausted this strategy, as in Latin America the previous generation Dacia Sandero Stepway has already been renamed and sold under the name Renault Stepway.

South America, a growing market for Renault

If Renault is going all out for the South American market, it’s because its sales are going pretty well. It is even a big market for the manufacturer, as the brand has sold no less than 283,116 cars and utility vehicles in 2022which is 8% more than last year.

The Kardian will be built at a plant in Curitiba, Brazil, and will borrow the Sandero CMF-B platform. The interior of the car should be very similar to the interior of the Dacia Sandero Stepway, and the engines of both models will differ, given the fact that pollution protection standards also differ depending on the market.
