Many years have passed since the creation of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, which existed since 1999. At that time, the aim was to combine knowledge and technology to allow the brands that were part of it to reduce their production costs. many elements in between. But in recent years, tensions have begun to arise between Renault and Nissan, in particular due to the French government’s implementation of the Florange law in 2015. The latter then gave more importance to Renault, without giving Nissan voting rights.

Expected decision

But since February of last year, the situation has accelerated a lot significantly worsened between the two companies. Now their separation has already been officially recorded. Renault management actually announced that “ the new management agreement no longer allows us to assume that the French manufacturer controls the Japanese company“. A decision that may surprise, but is not really unexpected. And it would change a lot, since all established joint ventures are liquidated.

What will it change?

This is, for example, the case of a buyer company created jointly, which will thus disappear. The latter made it possible to exchange parts between manufacturers. So this should lead to higher prices, because the larger the volumes ordered, the lower the cost. So you could end up paying more for your Renault or Nissan in the years to come. In addition, development costs are expected to increase, which will be reflected in the final price.
