
The Anglo-Dutch oil giant continues its diversification strategy and is developing its own charging network for electric vehicles. shell just inaugurated its own the largest charging station for electric vehicles in the world: it is located in Shenzhen, China, and has no less than 258 fast charging points.

We know that EV drivers are looking for fast, convenient and comfortable charging, which is reflected in usage levels at our facilities in China that are two to three times the local industry average. China is one of Shell Mobility’s most important growth markets. We look forward to providing an enjoyable mobility experience to more customers in China in the future.”István Kapitani, global executive vice president of Shell Mobility, said on this occasion.
Impressive fast charging station
This impressive public fast charging station is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from theShenzhen Airport, and offers 258 super fast charging points. It is operated by Shenzhen Shell and BYD Electric Vehicle Investment Company, a joint venture between Shell and BYD, which currently operates more than 13,000 charging stations in Shenzhen.
This station called “Shell Recharge Shenzhen Airport EV” made it possible charge more than 3,300 electric cars per day, during the trial period of operation. In addition to electric vehicle charging, the station offers Shell Select businesses such as Shell Café, snack vending machines and a customer lounge.
Renewable energy
THE solar panels installed on the roof of the station could generate approx 300,000 kWh of renewable electricity per year, which will be used to recharge customers’ vehicles. Worldwide, Shell currently has more than 40,000 public charging stationsinstalled at its service stations, mobility centers, on the street, and in locations such as supermarkets, and plans to expand its network to around 200,000 terminals by 2030.
As the number of electric vehicles in the Middle Kingdom grows rapidly, Shell is diversifying its operations to meet the different energy and mobility needs of its customers. In China, this time in Wuhan, Shell recently opened its Panlong integrated energy station: it offers more than ten types of mobile products and services, such as gasoline and diesel, electric car charging, hydrogen filling, car washing equipment, mini market, restaurant , reception, as well as other services.
