For more than a year, the price of fuel has been increasing incredibly, largely due to the war in Ukraine, but not only. Indeed, many reasons explain this increase, including taxation, taxes that represent not less than 60% l gasoline and diesel. But that’s not all, because we are also dealing with a drop in production associated with an increase in demand. Which creates an explosive cocktail, clearly to the detriment of motorists. This is especially true during the holidays, while prices skyrocket in the summer. And they are not expected to fall anytime soon.

To a discount?
Which obviously greatly complicates the lives of the French, many of whom are now forced to cut back on their trips. Then our colleagues at BFM TV conducted a large-scale study to measure their temperature. And the least we can say is that motorists have stepped up. According to the study, 63% of them believe this discount return for fuel will be necessary, even if it has implications for public spending. The idea is supported by 70% of people aged 25 to 34 and residents of rural areas, who are often forced to drive.
Tighten the belt
Now 78% of French people say they have to will have to tighten their belts, of which 29% should do it a lot and 49% a little. So much so that 40% were forced to give up buying certain food products, and 27% – from proper home heating. Worse still, 20% were forced to cut health care. And the government in all this? So far, the latter refuses to return any aid, preferring to ask distributors to make efforts by reducing their margins.
