After the Dolphin and Atto 3, BYD starts marketing its third model, a rather high-end sedan responsible for competing with the Tesla Model 3. If we already knew its specifications, there was one more unknown: the prices. .
It has already been done, as the Chinese brand has announced that Seal will debut in France. from 46,990 euros. The breakdown of the assortment is quite simple, since the “first price” refers to the rear-wheel drive version with 313 hp. and 570 km.
The announced all-wheel drive version with a capacity of 530 hp. and 520 km of autonomy 49,990 euros. Note that the manufacturer gives a six-year warranty on its sedan.
Big difference compared to the Tesla Model 3?
Obviously, we cannot ignore the comparison with the new Tesla Model 3. The American remains cheaper, with a starting price of 42,990 euros without bonuses. The BYD Seal powertrain is the only one to receive an environmental bonus of €5,000 (or €7,000, depending on income).
So there’s a €4,000 difference between the two models, a difference that tends to be justified by the slightly more “upscale” side of the Seal, with a build quality that’s nothing to envy to some of Europe’s premium models.
On the other hand, for the model above, BYD Seal is cheaper. The Tesla Model 3 Grande Autonomie, which of course has a claimed range of 629 to 678 km (depending on wheel size), starts at €50,990, or €1,000 more than the 530 hp BYD Seal. Two models are not affected by the environmental bonus in France.
