Here is some interesting news for fans of sports cars and movies. Silverstone Auctions is preparing to auction an exceptional product: the Nissan GT-R that was part of the cast of the film Gran Turismo.
This GT-R was also raced by Yann Mardenborough, the first ever GT Academy winnerdriving.
Cast to choose from
From August 9, avid fans of the Gran Turismo franchise had the opportunity to discover on the big screen the exciting adventures of GT Academy, as well as the career of British driver Giann Mardenborough thanks to the film of the same name directed by Neill Blomkamp.
The feature film, starring such well-known actors as Archie Madekwe (played by Gianna Mardenborough) and Orlando Bloom (known for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean and the Lord of the Rings trilogy), notably traces the history of the Nissan R35 GT-R, that Ian Mardenborough himself raced in Nissan Europe colours.
A car with a good pedigree
This is a 2014 Nissan GT-R Nismo, meticulously prepared by RJN Motorsport to 2015 Nismo specifications. This car was entered in the ‘factory’ program under the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN banners.
The R35 GT-R shined at the Nürburgring 24 Hours with an impressive score of 9thousand place in 2015, and a solid 11thousand place in 2016 after a fierce battle with Bentley. In addition to Yann Mardenborough’s exploits, this Nissan GT-R GT3 was also driven by other GT Academy winners including Ricardo Sanchez, Gaetan Paletu and Lucas Ordonez. He also competed in the FIA GT Championship with Alex Buncombe and Stuart Moore at the wheel.
The Nissan GT-R, which has starred on the big screen and on the racetrack, will be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions at the prestigious Silverstone Classic on August 25-26. According to experts, this collector’s item can find a new buyer for a fluctuating amount £225,000 to £275,000 (approx €260,000 to €318,000).
