Manufacturers have always competed stylistically to tempt customers. And it is not for nothing that we know that design remains one of the most important criteria when buying, sometimes comes at a price or consumption. And this is often the deciding factor when motorists hesitate between two models with a similar price and positioning. Suffice it to say that brands are interested in working on the design of their cars to stand out from the competition. It remains to know what strategy to adopt in order to seduce, and this is not always easy.

Less glitter
We think, for example, of the rivalry between Peugeot and Renault, the former with more assertive lines than the latter, particularly with its 208 against the Clio. But after the arrival of Gilles Vidal, former designer of the Lion brand, everything has changed. The cars of the diamond firm acquired character, perhaps to the point of becoming a little steel too much for some people. But that could change for good over the next few years. Indeed, Renault could go for more refined styling, the style boss claims. He explains that he ” time to enter a less bright era“.
Simpler style
He then adds that ” The challenge for designers will be to keep the brand strong and impressive while becoming much simpler. We want to build great cars, but with a more minimalistic and essential approach.“. Now it remains to know what the brand is preparing for us, when we know that it also relies heavily on retro to seduce customers, unlike Volkswagen, for example, which draws a line under its past.
