The concern with manufacturers who have one product in their catalog, and we see this regularly with Alpine or Caterham, is that you have to be imaginative to keep the brand relevant.
As for Bugatti, it’s the same, except that there’s no commercial will behind it all, at least as of this writing, because all Chirons have already been sold. This does not prevent the constructor from continuing to communicate via special series, each more spectacular than the next.
The latest model in question is a perfect example. For most customers, a Bugatti is “just” a blank slate that can be personalized as desired. The customization options are virtually endless, especially if you turn to the Custom program.
This department is responsible for the most incredible and unique Bugattis in the world, including the new Golden Era, a special Chiron Super Sport that celebrates the history of the brand.
When art meets Bugatti history
First shown at Monterey Car Week, the Golden Era was ordered by a customer looking for it “The Last Livery” to pay homage to Bugatti’s long tradition. The project carried out by the Sur Mesure department includes 26 handmade sketches representing the most iconic models of the French brand.
Thus, cars such as the 1926 Type 41 Royale, Type 57 SC Atlantic and the newer EB110, Veyron and Chiron take body shape. The background shows the 3,712 components that bring the legendary W16 engine to life, all made to scale with incredible precision. Of course, everything is done by hand.
Even the color is unique and is simply called “gold”. It fades in a gradation to “Night Black”, creating a spectacular stage effect.
Spectacular inside
The exterior design took more than 400 hours of work and the interior required no less with distinctive elements such as the presence of three EB110, Veyron and Chiron badges on the door panels, to which the Type 35, Type 57 SC Atlantic and Type 41 Royale were added.
The price of such a model is not reported, but it is undoubtedly much higher than 3.8 million euros basic requirements for Chiron Super Sport.
