Mini Coopers are one of those cars that cross generations while remaining aesthetically identifiable. Few of these cars can claim to have such a long career, first of all, but also belong in some way to the heritage of the car. You can cite, for example, Porsche 911, Fiat 500 and, therefore, Mini Cooper.
Namely, Mini Cooper will soon receive the right to a new generation. Last spring, the manufacturer already presented us with a sketch of its new model without additional information. Today, Mini shows us the interior of its new Cooper with the dashboard still visible, but it’s weird to say the least.
Can we make it more sophisticated?
What is surprising is, first of all, obvious that big round touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. In the old version, the round block integrated a rectangular screen, this time the circle becomes a screen on its own. The set is minimalistic, with few physical controls below the screen, on the steering wheel, and that’s it.
As you can see, there are no more counters under the driver’s eyes, they have been moved to the large central screen. It doesn’t bode well ergonomically, but we’re still waiting to see. This layout resembles a Tesla layout with a complete lack of combined instrument equipment.
A future Mini that will focus on electrics
As a reminder, the future Mini Cooper will be offered in two electric versions. There will be an entry-level Cooper E that will be powered by an engine from 184 hp (just like the current Cooper SE), while the top-of-the-line Cooper SE will have the power 218 hp.
The Cooper E and Cooper SE will also differ in battery, with the first models equipped with a battery pack 40.7 kWhwhile the second benefits from capacitance 54.2 kWh. The range should be between 300 km for the first, and 400 km for the second
It is not yet known, but a new Mini Cooper should also be offered a micro-hybrid version based on a 48-volt system with thermal power units and compatible with the future Euro-7 standard.
The presentation of the car may take place at the next Munich Motor Show, which will be held from September 5 to 10, 2023.
