At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lamborghini is unveiling its new hypercar that will enter next year’s WEC. Here is the SC63, a hybrid prototype homologated in the LMDh category, which will be on the asphalt of the Sart circuit from 2024.

The Lamborghini SC63 will also compete in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup in the GTP class, a championship that includes iconic races such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

An Italian car with a slight French accent

The Lamborghini SC63 has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 designed especially for her. Both turbochargers are mounted outside the cylinder banks to aid cooling and fuel delivery. The power of the internal combustion engine and the hybrid system is limited by regulation 680 hp.

The carbon chassis was developed in collaboration with the French company Ligier. The layout of the cooling system was influenced by the lines: eight radiators (including two intercoolers) located to cool the gearbox, the energy recovery system (ERS) and the engine cooling system, energy storage (ESS).

With a French pilot at the helm

Squadra Corse’s design department and aerodynamics team focused on certain recognizable elements, starting with the Y-shaped lights at the front and rear. The livery also borrows the styling language of other Lamborghini racing cars, including the Huracan GT3.

The SC63 features ‘Verde Mantis’ paint with a ‘Nero Noctis’ stripe running lengthwise across the car.

The SC63 will be driven by official Lamborghini drivers Mirco Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli, joined by former French F1 driver Romain Grosjean and Russian Daniil Kvyat. They will be joined by two more pilots to be announced during 2023.
