Fuel at cost goes back to Leclerc! News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

If the prices drop slightly for a few weeks, fuel is still very expensive. Which is obviously not easy for motorists who have to deal with such high prices, sometimes to the point that they cut back on their daily trips and leisure activities. And for good reason, the car remains at the moment 2nd largest expense item of the French at the accommodation and before the meal. And unfortunately, that shouldn’t improve in the next few years. If the government does not want to reduce taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel, it asks distributors to act.

New operation

That’s why TotalEnergies took the initiative to cap its fuel prices at €1.99, but it’s not the only one playing this game. This also applies to Casino, which has relaunched its operation “fuel for €1”., which lasts every weekend. And here another brand also decided to launch, for the benefit of the finances of motorists. This is the case Leclerc, known for its “fuel at cost” advertising campaign. If it’s been a while since the company offered this, it’s done now. Boss Edouard Leclerc has indeed announced the return of the offer, aimed at “not affecting the long-awaited summer holidays of the French”.

How does it work?

Every weekend from June 30 to August 13, petrol and diesel will be sold at cost at all 696 service stations of the brand. This means that the distributor agrees to sell without the slightest markup. Thus, the price per liter is reduced by a few pennies. Indeed, fuel margins are actually quite low. But it should still reduce the bill for drivers, who also have to deal with rising fares.
