Will the price of fuel ever become reasonable again? Unfortunately, nothing is less certain. Indeed, the latter is still very high despite the general decline across Europe. Because France doesn’t seem to care falling prices and oil prices. Which also has a gift for annoying associations, just like the government. The latter recently appealed to distributors to take measures to reduce prices at gas stations. They are indeed accused of inflated margins to compensate for shortages and other strikes in recent months.

An appreciated gesture

Some did decide to play the game, including TotalEnergies, which took the initiative a few weeks ago fuel price restrictions. Therefore, petrol and diesel are limited to 1.99 euros at all service stations outside the motorways. A gesture that pleases the authorities, who decided to let it be known. A few days ago, the minister responsible for transport spoke in front of the RTL microphone. The latter wanted to congratulate the efforts of the distributor, while explaining that any gesture on the part of the latter is acceptable in any case.

A small drop

He explains that ” Total has announced a limit of €2 maximum for a year, I think these are important gestures to confirm“. But this
Clément Beaune also wants to reassure and claims that ” prices are fortunately falling“. He explains that ” what we do, what the Ministry of Economy does in particular, we monitor it discounts on products are well transmitted at the end, on the pump […] If we look at the price of diesel, it has fallen by almost 10% in the last eight weeks, so we have the following implications“. Good news for drivers!
