In India, the electrification is also well underway with the proliferation of small SUVs and electric city cars. The world’s third-largest automotive market is particularly fertile ground for Chinese manufacturers, who are capturing an ever-increasing share of the market.

One of the most interesting electric cars of recent weeks, this is the new MG Comet EVa small electric car at a good price.

Four places less than three meters away

The smallest of all MGs is vaguely reminiscent of the very first Smart Fortwo. Unlike the little German, the Comet EV is slightly longer and can accommodate up to four adults. At 2.97 meters long, 1.51 meters wide and 1.64 meters tall, the MG stands out in the Indian traffic with its unusual shape, reminiscent of some Japanese kei cars, and its vibrant color scheme, as evidenced by the cover photo of this article.

On board the Comet has a dual display, a minimalist instrument panel and several storage spaces.

Of course, the presence of four seats (comfortable even for people with a height of about 1.80 m) comes at the expense of the volume of the trunk, which barely accommodates a backpack and charging cables.

230 km with a full tank of electricity

The MG Comet EV is powered by a 17.3kWh battery, the size of a battery in a modern hybrid model, which feeds an electric motor with 42 hp and 110 Nm.

The declared autonomy is approx 230 km according to the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle, with the possibility of recharging from 0 to 100% in about 7 hours by connecting to a 3.2 kW outlet.

List price approx. 9000 euros can be another important lever to increase the interest of Indian customers. Will we see this model in Europe? There is little chance that MG and other Chinese manufacturers have other projects for the Old Continent, particularly with new electric SUVs on the horizon.
