A few days ago, BMW introduced a new version of its XM, Label Red, a model with a capacity of 748 hp. with quite impressive performance for a hybrid SUV weighing almost 2.5 tonnes.
The “classic” version of the BMW XM, a model developed from A to Z by BMW Motorsport, remember, still develops 658 hp, again thanks to the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 combined with an electric motor.
With the BMW X5 hybrid engine?
But no matter what, if the BMW XM is likely to remain an exclusive model since it was developed by M, The German company intends to make a volume of. More than the BMW M1 anyway, another car designed exclusively by BMW M and produced from 1978 to 1981.
Do it, the Bavarian firm has just introduced the XM 50e, the entry-level version of its flagship SUV. If some were already wondering why BMW M developed a hybrid SUV as a flagship, they’ll be even more wondering what this version does, which will likely lose its V8 to the six-cylinder hybrid.
BMW has yet to provide any official information on this model, but we can imagine that the XM 50e will share the same engine as the X5 xDrive50e. 489 hp and 700 Nm of torque in combination with its thermal part with a capacity of 313 hp. and an electric motor with a capacity of 197 hp.
Not for France
The advantage will obviously be a reduction in the price, which, let’s recall, starts at 178,000 euros for the “regular” version and 203,000 euros for the Label Red. This version could be exchanged for €150,000, or the equivalent of €150,000.
Indeed, we contacted BMW France about this and they informed us this version will not be sold in France and Europe. This model is primarily intended for the American and Chinese markets.
