The Cupra range will soon expand with the appearance of the flagship of the brand in 2024: Cupra Terramar. It will be a large SUV, joining the Ateca, Leon, Formentor and the Tavascan, another SUV due in a few weeks.
Cupra has already previewed the silhouette of its model during several official events (not open to the public), but without going into details or presenting all the features. Nevertheless, the little information we have allows us to draw a composite portrait of this model.
The largest SUV in the Cupra range
The Cupra Terramar will be designed around the new version the MQB platform of the Volkswagen concern (the same one that will be used for the new Audi Q3).
Terramar will retain the main stylistic elements of the brand’s models, such as sharp lines, a large radiator grille with black elements and strong sides. Overall, the Cupra should be inspired by the design of the Formentor, modernizing it and adapting it to a larger and more upscale SUV.
This SUV will be the largest in the Cupra line, p length is about 4.50 meters (5 cm longer than the Formentor and 12 cm longer than the Ateca), which will increase the space in the cabin for passengers and luggage.
As for the interior, the Terramar should inherit sports seats with integrated headrests and a large part of the instruments from other models. However, on the latter point, it’s also possible that Cupra will choose this SUV to integrate all of the car’s new technology with a new-generation infotainment and dashboard.
There is no 100% electric version in the program
The Terramar will be the last new Cupra model to be powered by an internal combustion engine. The range will include several plug-in hybrid versions with a new battery that will allow the SUV to move up to 100 km without using a single drop of gasoline.
If PHEV engines will be in the game, then 100% thermal versions (equipped with microhybridization anyway) will not be abandoned yet. Obviously, the four-cylinder 2.0-liter TSI, which develops 190, 245 and up to 310 hp, should be updated. in Formentor and Leon.
In any case, the news promises to be rich around the Cupra: in 2023, the Tavascan will appear, then the serial version of the UrbanRebel, not forgetting the restyling of the Leon and the Formentor.
