It’s been a few months since the Volkswagen ID. Buzz was exposed and hasn’t stopped talking about him since. Together with the expansion of the electric range of the German brand ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5, the zero-emission station wagon is already a huge success, so much so that it’s almost out of stock. Indeed, several tens of thousands of orders have already been recorded, even before the car was delivered to the concession. While only one 204-horsepower engine and 77 kWh battery is currently offered, the brand is already working on other options. One of which promises to be particularly sporty.

More than 400 horsepower
A GTX variant has been rumored for a while now, like the ID.4 and ID.5, but Volkswagen hasn’t actually confirmed it. But at the start of 2023, the brand seems a bit more inclined to provide some information. When asked by the British site Autocar, Kai Grunitz, the brand’s head of research and development, did reveal this version. And in particular, its power, which will be about 340 horsepower. So it’s clearly more than 299 horsepower Skoda Enyaq iV RS and Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 GTX.
Increase in length
If the converted version of the van is called California coming later, this GTX variant will already be more livable than the model currently on the market. So, according to the representative of the brand, its length will increase by 25 centimeters, while seven people can be accommodated on board, compared to five now. However, we will have to wait a bit before we know the launch date of this new version, which should see the light of day in the coming months.
