The year 2023 will be marked by a lot of changes for French motorists. Here are some of the main changes from January 1, 2023!
Environmental bonus: a discount of 1,000 euros for two tranches
The environmental bonus will change, and this time forever ! The long-delayed reduction will finally take effect in 2023. For electric cars up to 47,000 euros, the premium will decrease by 1,000 euros. Thus, it will be from 6,000 to 5,000 euros. For models in the higher category from 47,000 to 60,000 euros, the same discount applies with a bonus of 2,000 to 1,000 euros. In addition, hybrid models will no longer have the right.
On the other hand, for the poorest householdsthe bonus can increase to 7000 euros for the purchase of a new electric car. This is a measure promised by Emmanuel Macron last October, but for which we do not yet know the exact terms of the discount. According to initial information, it may be reserved for those whose basic taxable income for the year is less than €14,700, or the equivalent of €1,314 net per month.
Car sharing: €100 bonus
To encourage car sharing, which is an important lever to reduce the number of cars on our roads, the Government is going to launch national plan “daily car sharing”. The event aims to encourage carpooling for commuting and will reward participants.
From 1Er In January 2023, short-distance carpooling drivers will receive a bonus of €100 through the carpooling platform on which the trips were made, in the form of a progressive payment:
- the first payment of 25 euros, made no later than 3 months after the first joint trip;
- the second payment of 75 euros is made no later than 3 months after the end of the 10d car trip
Also note that this will only affect journeys of less than 80km. Therefore, new registered members of the sharing platforms will have three months to make these ten journeys in order to receive the 100 euro grant. This will not be paid directly by the state, but through premiums for energy saving certificates.
Charging stations: the tax credit of up to 300 euros has been extended until 2025
From 2020, the government offers a special tax credit to owners of electric cars. It can be used to establish a home electric charging station.
It was originally supposed to end on December 31, 2023, but it was extended to 2025! The Prime Minister made the decision Elizabeth Bourne in the latest text of the Finance Law. We remind you that this loan does not exceed 300 euros (75% of the cost of the terminal) and also does not require lack of proof of income. Ultimately, this applies to both landlords and tenants.
ZFE: new zones and more restrictions
EPZ, or Low emission zones, will continue to develop in France. Today they are in the present tense 11 by number (Greater Paris, Lyon, Aix-Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Rouen, Reims and Saint-Etienne). We remind you goal by 2024 consists in the creation of ZEP almost in There are 43 cities in total ! This should apply to all cities 150,000 inhabitants.
Additionally, some cities that fall under the ZFE have Crit’Air deadlines. Taking the Grand Paris ZFE as an example, all Crit’Air 3 models should be banned July 1, 2023 !
Tolls: an average increase of 4.75%.
The year 2022 in France will end with record inflation. And this will have some impact on many services next year. For Parisians, this is, for example, the Navigo Pass, which allows you to travel around Ile-de-France by bus, metro, tram and the RER network, the cost of which increases from 75 to 84 euros per month.
For motorists, the increase will be passed on to tolls, which are set to rise by an average of 4.75% on France’s motorway network. This increase will be effective from February 1.
There will also be a discount for heavy riders. Motorists who use the same route for more than 10 return trips per month will be able to take advantage of a 40% discount on the Vinci Autoroutes, APRR, AREA, SANEF and SAPN networks. Finally, electric motorists will be able to benefit from a 5% discount on fares for all their journeys in 2023.
“Social leasing”: an electric car for €100 per month
This is a measure often announced by the government. It was even Emmanuel Macron’s pre-election promise. But in 2023, the famous “electric car for 100 euros per month” may become a reality. This is a social leasing device that resembles a lease with the right of redemption. This should allow the most modest households to travel in inexpensive “green” cars. In fact, the system should be based on a down payment followed by a long-term lease with multiple monthly payments. In the government-subsidized version, the monthly payment will be “only” €100 per month.
