Several days ago, conflagration announced at Tesla’s new factory in Berlin, Germany. Firefighters from the Gigafactory called for help from city firefighters overnight, around 3 a.m. The fire, the cause of which remains unknown at this time, occurred at the Tesla recycling plant, which is located north of Berlin’s industrial zone.
The factory, whose construction began in 2020, was inaugurated only this year due to delays, mainly due to the health crisis, as well as opposition to the construction of the factory by environmental activists.
Tesla gigafactory: a big fire
The Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin has processing plant, managed by Remondis, a specialist company that stores materials awaiting recycling: this is where the fire started. If the scene is impressive, then mostly wood, cardboard and paper caught fire.
The fire required several hours of intervention and about fifty firefighters, including 12 internal Tesla firefighters, to bring it under control. Fortunately, the damage was only material, there were no casualties. If the causes of the incident are currently unknown, this is not the first time that the Berlin Tesla factory has fallen victim to a fire: the previous fire dates back to 2021, a fire of criminal origin in the context of a confrontation with German environmentalists.

The fire at the Tesla Gigafactory: an environmental standoff
Eco-activists, like last year, are concerned about the consequences of the fire, which could lead to the possible entry of toxic substances into the ground, which could contaminate drinking water nearby: they are asking for these reasons to close the plant.
Despite these objections, it is unlikely that Tesla’s German factory will be closed for these reasons. Indeed, without real evidence of contamination of basements by these industrial installations, the local authorities will not take action there are no closing events administration Tesla’s presence in the region also contributes to the number of jobs, and a possible closure could have harmful social consequences.
Tesla Gigafactory Fire: Delivery Delays?
In addition, this fire only broke out in a facility that allows materials to be processed did not touch the production lines from the Tesla Gigafactory. Therefore, technically, the production of cars by Elon Musk’s company should not be stopped.
As such, Tesla Model Y production will not be affected by this incident, and production ramp-up should continue. The Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin will also soon house a new expansion that will allow battery cells to be manufactured on site to power the American brand’s electric vehicles.
Tesla has just raised the prices of its Superchargers again to make a full tank of fuel more economical. https://t.co/7WAogmeigd
