The story stretches back almost 20 years. Launched in 2003 by the German brand, the Z4 has always stood out as the touring roadster par excellence. Small, light and often well-motorized, the Z4 is a complete sports car. AND BMW intends to continue the development of this model. Already the third generation, introduced in 2018 over 55,000 copies were sold, a large part of which is in Germany. Five years after the presentation of this third generation, BMW offers a slight restyling of its Z4 with an engine that remains just as sporty.

A slightly redesigned design

Visually, this 2023 Z4 has changed little. We always find muscular and aggressive style that characterizes this third generation. At the front, BMW enlarged the air intakes and installed two large air intakes on each side. The hood is also more sculpted, and all this supports the powerful and sporty character of the roadster a little more. There are also new LED headlights. They will be accompanied by an option called Shadow line M. Thus, they will be equipped with blacked-out inserts to make the visual look even sportier.

From the rear, this Z4 M40i has very little development. We find a rear that is still very muscular. We detect the presence of a small spoiler on the trunk lid. The diffuser and exhaust pipes have been slightly modified. BMW also offers new 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. The latter are diamond polished to improve the lateral visual effect. The soft top is now made of fabric and has electric control. Opening or closing will take 10 seconds up to 50 km/h.

BMW also offers new shades of color for this restyling Z4. Four new options have been added to the assortment: gray, white, red or black. The hood will always be offered in color Charcoal gray.

The interior has practically not changed. We detect the presence of four shades of different colors.

The V6 is still in the game

Not much has changed on the engine side either. Entry level will be equipped Four-cylinder engine 20i 2.0 Turbo with a capacity of 197 hp (320 Nm), which will allow you to take full advantage of this roadster: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds. Little surprise, though, The V6 is still in the game. in The 3.0-liter engine will develop 340 hp. and 500 Nm of torque for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Motorization, which will be connected to the direction of DirectDrive, which will allow full use of the technical characteristics of the roadster. The BMW Z4 M40 i also has the optional SelectDrive M suspension. The latter is equipped with electronically controlled shock absorbers and M Sport brakes.

Roadster is always well equipped

The Z4 also remains very well equipped, with many driver aids are available. So we find in sequence the forward collision warning, the lane crossing warning and the speed limiter with panel reading. Adaptive cruise control, a Drive Assist package and a head-up display will also be available as options.

The last generation BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Pro will also be available on the central 10.25-inch screen.

The next BMW Z4 will be available from 54,200 euros for the sDrive20i version and from 69,300 euros for the M40i version.
