The Light year 0originally introduced as the Lightyear One before its production, is an amazing electric car as it is equipped with 5 m² of solar panels, allowing it to travel freely up to 70 km per day.
To optimize energy consumption and therefore autonomy, Lightyear worked on many parameters, including aerodynamics. Recently, a young Dutch manufacturer drove his car into a wind tunnelat FKFS in Germany to do homologate its resistance coefficient.
Light year 0: Cₓ record
If Light year 0 designed to target a drag coefficient (Cₓ) of 0.19, the results exceeded the expectations of the brand’s engineers, as official tests conducted under the WLTP protocol measured Cₓ is only 0.175 !
Thus, Lightyear 0 becomes the most aerodynamic serial car in the world, ahead of the Mercedes EQS (Cₓ 0.20), the Tesla Model 3 (Cₓ 0.23) and even the Volkswagen XL1 (Cₓ 0.186), which until now was the most aerodynamic car in the world. Thus, this promising large Dutch sedan has just been displaced by a small German car.
Stay tuned as we race towards another electrifying milestone!
Recently, our team traveled to Stuttgart, Germany to perform the ultimate aerodynamic testing of the Lightyear 0.

Light Year 0: Generous autonomy
Lightyear has four electric motors located on each wheel that develop the total power 177 horsepower (130 kW). But its design is not aimed at making it a high-performance car, but rather at optimizing its autonomy.
For this, the car relies on the battery 60 kW/hwhich offers a range of 695 kilometers according to the WLTP protocol. Availability 5 m² of photovoltaic panels also makes it possible to extend this autonomy, and thus travel for free to 70 km per day !
Lightyear 0: expensive price
But all this technology comes at a price: indeed, the Lightyear 0 is already on the market at a rather attractive price. from 250,000 euros. Production will begin in small batches, and the first deliveries are scheduled for November 2022.
This technology, developed on Lightyear 0, will benefit more affordable models in the future: in fact, the manufacturer is already working on light year 2a more compact model to be brought to market until 2025at a price of about 30,000 euros!
have you seen it The moment we shared Lightyear 0 with the world!
We’re still pumped after a truly incredible premiere. Thank you all for making it so special.
