Speed cameras have been appearing on the roads for many years. And the least we can say is that they are growing very, very well. Indeed, their numbers have multiplied over the last decade, and the degradation carried out during the yellow vest crisis in 2019 has not changed much. Indeed, most of the destroyed cabins were even replaced with more modern and more efficient models. And in particular, turrets capable of verbalizing a greater number of violations of traffic laws. But government wants to go further and wants to speed up the sending of minutes, although they bring in several million euros every year. This is one of the reasons why installations multiply and radars become more and more sophisticated. We are thinking in particular of turrets, but also noise radars and future urban radars.

New establishments in Marseille

If the number of cabins increases everywhere, motorists traveling in Marseille will have to be extra careful. And for good reason, after the city of Marseille announced the creation of the ZFE from September 1, it also plans to increase the number of radars. In total, fifty new houses will appear. And be careful, because these will not be simple radars. Drivers will indeed have to deal with city radars, miniature versions of turrets. Being almost invisible, the latter will be able to verbalize several violations, such as speeding and running a red light, as well as the absence of safety belt and using a phone while driving.

New tower radars

Rest assured, however, that’s all new speed cameras iinstalled in the city will not be real, as some will only be decoys. It will still be difficult to detect them, especially since they must work alternately. Therefore, it is necessary to respect the Traffic Rules, risking losing points without even realizing it. But that’s not all. In fact, at least 80 additional radar towers will be installed in the Bouches-du-RhĂ´ne department over the next few months. The goal? Double the number of booths that are already on the sides of the roads.
