Coco Gauff (third seed) and Maria Sakkari (9th seed) completed the list of players who reached the semifinals of Indian Wells 2024. The tournament also features WTA leader, Poland’s Iga Sviatek.

After Iga Svyatek and Marta Kostyuk booked their tickets to the semi-finals at the beginning of the day session, it was the turn of the other two favorites to enter the penultimate stage of the tournament in the Californian desert.

Coco Gauf had a tough match against Yue Yuan. It was a game with many vulnerabilities in the service games, breaks were sufficient (five in the first set and three in the second).

The American kept her composure better at the end of the set, and the 6-4, 6-3 victory was ultimately deserved. The match ended after one hour and 36 minutes.

Maria Sakkari (9th seed) and Emma Navarro (23rd seed) faced each other in the final game of the quarters.

The contest was intense, with many twists and turns and stretched over three hours and 56 minutes of play.

The American started the match better, won the first set (7-5), but was no longer able to stay at the same high level she showed in the previous round, when she knocked out Aryna Sabalenko.

Returning to form after a very poor start to the year, Sakkari knew how to change tactics on the fly after losing the first leg.

The Greek lost only six games before the end of the match, which came back to her in three sets with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Interesting matches await in the semi-finals, but experts say there are good chances to see the long-awaited final between Iga Svyatek and Koko Gauf.
