
We’re announcing a new event that brings especially rare items to the public: the Historic Art Auction, which also includes a selection of numismatics and items from the Military category. The event, which will take place on March 26, offers a meeting with real objects from today at an exhibition open to the general public in the Czesianu-Rakovice Palace, with free entry, from Monday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 20.00. which contain important historical evidence about several periods: the kingdom, the world wars, the Holocaust and communism. All these can become primary sources, not just archival documents or visual sources, in a “dialogue” with the past, if we can explore them.
This year, on the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Transylvanian hero, we present Avram Janka one of the last known imagesthe leader of the Romanian Revolution of 1848-1849, of rare suggestiveness. Avram Jancu spent the last decade of his life forgotten by his contemporaries and disillusioned, despite the important role he played in Romanian history. The picture was taken when he was about 40-41 years old and shows him poorly dressed, untidy but with dignity, his hand tucked into his coat and his gaze directed straight, without hesitation, into the camera lens. .
There are other very special photos like these two in this auction as well paintings with the sculptor Konstantin Brancusiimages taken in his studio in Paris.
Shines and fascinates, literally, Fr gold coin worth 100 lei, which was minted before the ten-year reign of King Charles II. This is an extremely rare product, the starting price of which here is 12,000 euros. What is its value, explains Viorel Petach, president of the Romanian Numismatic Society: “This is an absolutely exceptional item, because it has great historical and heritage value. It was issued in 1940 by Charles II. This is an extremely rare work, because it was the sovereign’s wish – its circulation was only 300 copies. It was offered only to those who were in the closest circle of the king, it was not available in the market. There are very few examples in the world.”
Also, in the “Coins” section, we note several drachmas, such as Gemini currencyon both sides of the Danube, the first coin minted in the modern territory of Romania, made of silver and originating from Histria (255-240 BC), coin of Herculesbeaten by the colony of Callatis, gold stater minted in Tomisas well as two other Dacian drachmas.
In the “Military” section, several weapons of museum value are noted: Fr ceremonial sword with a scabbard, a policeman of the reign of King Charles Idecorated with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Romania, Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth) pin from Nazi Germany, approx. 1935 (with scabbard), several Katana swords – including a Wakizashiby Takada, from the Edo period (c. 1600-1868), certified by NBTHK.
The auction also features a small selection of fine silver jewelery from the Royal period, including some rare examples such as Order of Michael the Brave and Order of the Crown of RomaniaBut and Cross of Queen Elizabeth for women and Queen Mary Cross.
In the same event, we also included a small collection of old, rare and important books for the Romanian soul and identity. I brought to the palace two books from the time of Konstantin Brankovianu (lord of Wallachia between 1688 and 1714), “God’s way” from 1699 and “October of Mykhai Kantakuzyn” 1706 (with holographic mark and ring seal, rare product), as well as “Teaching Gospel” since the time of Mavrocordatus, which is the first Romanian Kazanium printed in Bucharest, and of course “History of the Ottoman Empire” Dimitry Kantemir (1745).
Among the 245 lots of the mentioned auction is also Fr a snuff box that belonged to King Ferdinandas well as rare engravings, as is portrait of Matthew Corvinmade in 1780.
During the same period, at the Palace, we continue to celebrate women with an exhibition dedicated to the muses of Romanian artists, entitled “Muses”, which remains open until March 10. In this way, you will be able to admire the portraits of the wives or life partners of Nicolae Tonica, Nicolae Grigorescu, Gheorghe Petrascu, Sabina Balashi and others… We have also prepared an unexpected contest: the events of this period offer the public the opportunity to win great prizes, including a Vespa Primavera scooter.
