Electric city car
For several years, Asian manufacturers, in particular Chinese ones, have been coming to Europe en masse, which is not too pleasing to Brussels. We think, for example, of BYD, which became the world’s number 1 in the production of electric cars, ahead of Tesla, but it is not the only one. Indeed, this also applies to MG, whose MG4 has been a hit on the Old Continent since its launch. The firm is also the star of the Geneva Motor Show, where it just unveiled its MG3 hybrid. However, the manufacturer does not neglect the rest of its range. According to our British colleagues at Autocar, MG is working hard on a new, even more compact model that will sit below the recently formalized compact. This new city car will be fully electric and will aim to compete with the Dacia Spring, which has just undergone a minor mid-career facelift. The information was confirmed by David Ellison, product plan manager at MGAutocar journalists asked.
There is an exception to the end of sales of diesel cars in 2035, voted by the European Parliament: luxury cars (Ferrari, etc.). Of course, there are not many of them, so the emissions will be limited, but for the symbol and social justice, it will be necessary to return pic.twitter.com/6gPS9lc6ZE

Affordable price
So far, there is a city car known as MG2, but the latter is not yet official and may change later. According to a representative of the manufacturer, the concept already exists, and the conversion to a production car could be achieved in less than two years. The Chinese brand’s aim is to move quickly, given the growing competition with the new Citroën ë-C3 and other Renault 5s, not to mention the Volkswagen ID.2, which is also in the pipeline. Allison points out that many brands prefer large cars to maximize their profits. This enables MG to position itself in the market with a new and affordable offer. This newcomer can cost around 20,000 euros with a size of around 4 meters. This positioning closely matches that of the new MG 3, which is currently only offered in a mild hybrid version. Now it remains to be seen whether it will enter the French market.
